We talked over your idea with the vendor and we agree that the unit would be too unstable if it was only mounted on one side. The unit does mount to the floor and the back of the cabinet. While those points add extra stability you will still lose the majority without the attachment to the both sides of the cabinet. There are two options that I can think of the single shelf bottom mount or this one might work.
