Size is 7.2mm square and threaded 3/8-20.
Most of our Passage & Privacy Door sets for a 1-3/8" or 1-3/4" thick door require a 3-9/16" or 4" length Spindle.
Length obviously depends on the door thickness and hardware being used on a door.
For thicker than normal doors(1-3/4"+), special long Spindles are available here.
If you need more specific information, call with the door thickness and hardware being ordered.

Correct, Levers slide onto the Spindles then set screws are tightened to hold them in place.
Some Levers and all Door Knobs are threaded for the Spindle and do not slide on.
