Unfortunately the gallery rail rod only comes in a length of 36". The most seamless would be to cut the two 36" to a shorter length, and use a center post to hide the seem.

Building floating shelves and using the gallery rods and post. Are there longer gallery rod available or how do I connect the rods making them look seamless when the shelf I'm building is 48" when the rods only come in 36" length?
