The SSP1810 and the family of similar products are made of stainless steel, so they are safe to be used in an exterior door. The item is shipped with the necessary hardware for installation on doors from 1 3/8” to 2”, not more than that. In case the door is thicker, we recommend to take the bolt provided with the product to any hardware store and buy a longer one with the same diameter and thread.
